The Wedding Countdown

We are in full wedding planning mode around here. We have just a few more days to get everything squared away! There are so many little things to make sure to remember to check on and confirm. It's amazing how much goes in to a wedding.

As many of you already know, I've gotten fed up with the planning process countless times in the last 11 months. It's much more work and less fun than I thought it would be. However, looking back now, I am very happy we are having a party to celebrate our love.

For one thing, without having the wedding to plan, I think I would have been miserable at work. Where work was boring and easy, the wedding picked up the slack. It gave me an outlet to be creative and to feel challenged so I could learn and grow as a person. I really appreciate that. Also, I really liked trying on all the fancy dresses while trying to pick out my dress, the bridal shower/bachelorette party that was all about me (I love attention), all the smiles and love we have received from countless people congratulating us (thank you!), and the cupcake tasting (YUM!).

Now that we have such little time left before the big day, I'm trying to relax and enjoy myself as much as possible...and surprisingly, I'm doing a pretty good job at it! I know everything will work out exactly the way it should. At the end of the day, Spencer and I have each other and that's what matters. Plus, we get to go on our honeymoon which will be awesome! I am so excited to travel again; it's been too long!

Pop-up Flower Card

It was only last week that I was talking about how much I love handmade cards and then I saw this one! How fun to make a handmade pop-up card!

This one is from Martha Stewart but I first saw it on Poppytalk. It was originally intended to be a Mother's Day card but It's a little late for that now (oops!). I think it would be a great card for many other occasions as well.

Watch the DIY video here. (It's on the right sidebar towards the bottom.)

psst....Also, check out Oh Happy Day! for an easy pop-up how-to.

Friday Flower - Sweet Pea

My favorite part about sweet peas are their wonderfully sweet smell. It's so refreashing and lovely to smell them on a warm summer day. I also love all the different colors that sweet peas can be.

My mom has some very fond memories of her grandmother's sweet peas so she planted some seeds this spring. They sure do grow fast! I'm hoping they will be blooming in time for our wedding at the end of the month.

I love them in these two bouquets. They look like little puff balls and I'm sure they smell amazing!

What do you think about sweet peas? I would love to hear! :)

Awesome Wallpaper

I never thought I would fall in love with gold wallpaper...until I saw this picture. I love how that pattern is just big enough to make a statement but not so big as to make the room seem small. The flower pattern is amazing and I love the different colors and sizes of frames on the wall.

It is such a beautiful space!

Spiral Staircase

I love spiral staircases! They remind me of the olden days, monocles, and mysteries. These associations are probably due to Indiana Jones and Cinderella, two movies I watched over and over again during my childhood.

It's so cool to be able to literally walk straight up in a circle. I think it's genius and this bubble gum pink one takes it to a whole other level. It is so awesome.

I would much rather have a spiral staircase instead of any other kind....except on moving day. On moving day, I want an elevator.

Cute Cards

I am a huge fan of the handmade card.

Not only are they very fun to make, they feel more heartfelt and are definitely unique. As for the cards pictured above, I really like all the fun colors, the confetti (!) and the tissue paper fringe.

I love giving and receiving handmade cards. It makes me feel special and gives me the human connection that is often left behind in our digital world.

How do you feel about handmade cards? Fun or tacky?
